Slavery exists in many forms in the world today. It is not like Uncle Tom or the Brer Rabbit stories from the old southern plantations in the USA before the civil war. It is a way of life in some countries. The top five are India, China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia. An estimate is that 30 million people suffer in slavery. A legal form of slavery used is debt bondage.
Slavery in any form is abhorrent.
In England, a form of drug induced prostitution slavery is practiced by Pakistani gangs. Young men entice young lower class girls to take drugs, get them dependent, then use them as child prostitutes. Tommy Robinson was attempting to expose this with video stories. He was jailed. The governing authorities are embarassed by this problem and do not want it publicized. There is little freedom of speech in Great Britain.
The United States, with the rule of law and civil protections for the citizens, has less slavery than some other large countries.
